The Beginning of Jealousy

In the Kingdom of Daha lived two princesses named Galuh Ajeng and Candra Kirana, who had very contrasting personalities. When Candra Kirana became engaged to Prince Inu Kertapati, Galuh Ajeng felt very envious and spiteful. She then sought out an evil witch to curse her older sister so that the prince would turn away from her.

The Curse of the Golden Snail

The witch transformed Candra Kirana into a Golden Snail and threw her into the middle of the sea. This curse could only be broken if the Golden Snail was found by someone with a sincere heart or if she reunited with her fiancé. Shortly after, an old fisherwoman found the beautiful golden snail caught in her net and brought it home.

Miracles at the Grandmother's House

Miracles began to occur every time the old woman returned from fishing; she always found her house clean and the dining table filled with delicious meals. Overcome with curiosity, the old woman pretended to leave and then peeked through a crack in the wall. She was shocked to see the Golden Snail in her water jar transform into a beautiful princess who was cooking. The secret was revealed, and Candra Kirana told her of the misfortune that had befallen her.

Reunion and Happiness

Meanwhile, the loyal Raden Inu Kertapati continued to wander in search of his fiancée, even disguising himself as a commoner. Fate led him to the old woman's house when he was feeling thirsty and exhausted. As soon as the prince saw Candra Kirana, the Golden Snail curse vanished forever through the power of their love. Candra Kirana finally returned to the palace, while Galuh Ajeng fled into the forest, fearing punishment for her deeds.

Moral Message:
Kindness and patience will always bear sweet fruit, while evil driven by envy will only end in regret.
