Once upon a time, in the very distant past, there lived a husband and wife in the Kabui Bay area, Waigeo. The husband often went to the forest to search for food and firewood. One day, while they were walking along a riverbank, they found six giant eggs hidden inside a stone cave.
The eggs looked different from any bird or animal eggs they had ever seen. Out of curiosity and feeling that the eggs were a gift from nature, they brought them home and stored them in a wooden chest.
**The Miracle Inside the Chest**
Night after night passed, until one quiet night, the couple heard the sound of cracking and soft whispers from inside the chest. To their great surprise, when they opened the chest:
* Four eggs had hatched into four boys who were handsome and sturdy.
* One egg hatched into a beautiful girl.
* The last egg did not hatch, but instead hardened into stone.
The couple raised the children with great love and affection. As time went by, these children grew into wise figures with extraordinary charisma, as if they were indeed born to lead.
**Parting and the Formation of Kingdoms**
After reaching adulthood, the four boys realized they had a duty to protect the region of Papua. Guided by spiritual signs, they eventually parted ways to lead the large surrounding islands.
The four sons became kings (*Kolano*) in the following regions:
* War became King of Waigeo.
* Betani became King of Salawati.
* Duna became King of Misool.
* Mohamad became King of Batanta.
This is where the name "Raja Ampat" comes from, which in the local language means "Four Kings." Under their leadership, the people lived in prosperity, peace, and mutual respect between the islands.
